WASHINGTON — St. Peter School (SPS) Student Families gathered last week to fight hunger in Ward 6 and beyond by participating in the 35 th Annual Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive.
At final count, 90 boxes of food were loaded onto the truck destined for The Father McKenna Center. Donations were gathered from school neighbors as well as parishioners from St. Peter’s and St. Joseph’s churches.
“A cornerstone of St. Peter School’s teachings is community service, and the best way students learn is by organizing hands-on projects that benefit our neighbors in need,” said St. Peter School Principal Karen Clay . “We appreciate the Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive for their many years of collaboration, which has allowed generations of St. Peter School students to make a tangible difference in our community.”
“St. Peter School has been a longtime supporter of the Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive with strong family ties to the Gannon family and the McKenna Center,” said Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive Executive Director Rick Gannon . “St. Peter School puts their faith into action by gathering food for the food insecure of their community. Each person, every can collected make a difference in someone's life. Thanks to St. Peter School for partnering with us to achieve our goals.”
