WASHINGTON—St. Peter School (SPS) won big at the 2022 Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Cross Country Championship meet on Sunday, October 23 in Darnestown, Maryland. The 8U Girls team brought home the 1 st Place trophy, the 8U Boys 2 nd Place trophy, and 10 individual runners won medals. Nearly 600 runners across 6 divisions from 18 schools competed for the top spots.
“St. Peter School’s reputation for excellence extends well beyond the classroom into the field,” said St. Peter School Principal Karen Clay . “Cross Country builds not only physical fitness, but also mental endurance. Most importantly, our runners have built lifelong friendships and truly enjoy the sport. Parent coaches, volunteers and families play a huge part in the overall experience.”
In addition to Cross Country, SPS also has a robust CYO Basketball program run by parent coaches and volunteers, which kicks off this fall.
SPS will host its first Open House of the season on Friday, November 4, from 9-10:30 a.m., at 422 3 rd Street SE, to showcase these offerings and more for prospective students.
Families considering SPS for elementary or middle school will have the opportunity to learn more about the school’s teachings and academic offerings and meet some of the school’s current families, faculty and staff.
